The official rollout of the Cazenovia school district’s strategic plan update process is set to occur next week with a community presentation scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the Cazenovia High School Large Group Instruction room, which is adjacent to the auditorium.
The purpose of this presentation will be to introduce the district’s strategic plan initiative to the greater school and community population.
“At this first meeting, we will be discussing the why, how and what in regards to the district’s strategic plan process,” said Board of Education President Jan Woodworth. “Ultimately, we will have a clear and focused plan that guides future decision making.”
The new strategic plan will focus on the areas of curriculum and instruction, financial management, facilities, and community relations. There will be a core group of stakeholders participating in the process — students, parents, teachers, staff, administrators, community members — and individual task forces assigned to specific topics that will be data-driven to focus on specific areas through surveys, interviews, public forums and other types of community interaction. The core team will be highly involved throughout the entire process.
The strategic plan update process will be a collaborative one, said Superintendent Matt Reilly. “We’re looking for input from all groups to understand how we do this, find our collective vision and chart a course for the next five years,” Reilly said.
Anyone interested in learning more about the strategic plan process, and especially those who might be interested in serving on the core team, is urged to attend the presentation to learn more about the concept. At the conclusion of the meeting, there will be allotted time for questions from the audience.
It has been nearly 10 years since the Cazenovia Central School District updated its strategic plan, and the district has hired a consulting firm, PLC Associates, Inc., of Pittsford, N.Y., to assist with the process. PLC facilitators were expected to present information about the update process at the school board’s Dec. 19 regular monthly meeting, but scheduling conflicts forced a cancellation.
