Zooming through the familiar trails at Longbranch Park, the Liverpool cross country teams both earned key CNY Counties League victories last Tuesday over Baldwinsville. The girls Warriors prevailed by a slightly larger 22-39 margin over the Bees, and Rachel Putman led the way as the senior finished in 20 minutes, 15 seconds to take individual honors. Ashley Letteney got third place in 20:36, just behind B’ville’s Rachael Miller (20:35), but it was Kaitlyn McNamara, in fifth place (21:37), leading a charge of six straight Liverpool runners. Caroline Dieffendefer, in 21:56, edged Morgan Mahoney (21:57) for sixth place. Jessica Turner was eighth in 22:29, with Rebecca Murray ninth (22:40) and Hannah Anthes finishing 10th in 22:44. Though B’ville had a better showing in the boys meet and featured the individual winner as Alec Peinkofer prevailed in 17:20, Liverpool still emerged with a 22-36 win over the Bees. A trio of Warriors closely followed Peinkofer to the line, as Drew Henry took second place in a time of 17:26, while Zach Crosby was third in 17:28 and Brandon Rudd claimed fourth in 17:30. Anthony Ostuni was sixth in 17:43, one second ahead of Anthony Romano (17:44), with Kevin Abel ninth in 18:07.
