It warmed up again, giving the area’s high school boys golf teams one more chance to bask in it as the regular season passed the midway point. And no one enjoyed it more than Christian Brothers Academy’s Mark Finlay, who hit the season’s most memorable shot during his team’s 200-265 victory over Mexico Tuesday afternoon at The Pines. On The Pines’ 175-yard, par-3 7th hole, Finlay struck a seven-iron — and saw it fly straight at the pin and disappear into the cup for a hole-in-one, the first ace of Finlay’s career. That propelled Finlay to a nine-hole total of 34, five shots ahead of teammate Josh Rathbun, while Jack Bellardine posted a 40. Entering the week undefeated at 6-0, Jamesville-DeWitt made it seven wins in a row Monday, outlasting Phoenix 223-238 at Lafayette Hills. Tom Schulte, with a 40, led a balanced scoring effort for the Red Rams that overcame the Firebirds’ Dan Dunnigan posting a 38. Fayetteville-Manlius, fighting for first place in the CNY Counties League, earned another victory last Monday at Greenview, taking out Central Square 192-201. Ryan Fero, with a nine-hole total of 35, beat the Red Hawks’ Brandon Payne by a single shot for individual honors. Kevin Ralph and Anthony Millimaci each posted 38.
