The school budget vote is scheduled for Tuesday May 18. The school administration, transportation and buildings and grounds staff are very supportive of our children and adult programs throughout the years. An austerity budget could mean increased summer fees or reduction in our programming — please vote on Tuesday. The Marcellus Park Gazebo is now available for wedding ceremonies and photos. The Gazebo was purchased with a grant from the Marcellus Rotary Club. To reserve a special time and date, please call the department; there is no fee. The department will once again work in conjunction with the Skaneateles Community Center to offer swimming lessons this summer. Swim lessons are important for the safety and welfare of all children and can provide children with life saving skills such as treading water, feeling comfortable around the water and endurance. Our recreation program offers a reduced rate to all residents. If a family has financial difficulties, no child will be denied access to this important program. Swim scholarships are available for this program; call the parks office for more information. A swim bus will be available to transport children signed up for swim lessons that will leave from the back of Driver Middle School. Parents are also welcome to transport their children to and from the center as well. Look for more information in the department brochure, available May 21. Contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 673-3269 ext.2; the office is located at 24 E. Main St., Marcellus.
