In the first of two meets this week at Manley Field House, the Baldwinsville boys indoor track and field team picked up 33 points to finish second in the Jan. 11 John Arcaro Memorial Invitational, just behind Corcoran, who won with 39 points. Brian Kane again emerged victorious in the high jump. Kane cleared 6 feet 2 inches, beating out Corcoran’s Jalen Sanders (6 feet) for the top spot, and he was also seventh in the triple jump (39 feet 5 1/2 inches) to boot. Nate McCabe stayed close to the front in the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:15.57, just behind Brendan Farrell (Fayetteville-Manlius), who won in 4:14.54. Rudy Sapp, Andrew Hoover, Chris Wicks and Todd Mitchell combined to finish second in the 1,000 sprint medley relay in 2:08.72, just behind Corcoran (2:07.07), and Hoover also finished fifth (8.46 seconds) in the 55-meter hurdles. Shaun Thompson earned fourth place in the 3,000-meter run in 9:06.22. The George Constantino Invitational took place two nights later, and this time the Bees had 22 points on the boys end, tying F-M for seventh place. Liverpool won with 54 points. A terrific high jump duel saw Kane improve to 6 feet 4 inches, needing to do so to hold off Henninger’s Cole King (6 feet 3 inches). Hoover worked his way to third place in the 55 hurdles in 8.23 seconds, not far from Liverpool’s Joe Spernyak (8.17), and he teamed with Sapp, Mitchell and Alex Nagy for fourth in the 4×200 relay in 1:37.71. McCabe was sixth (2:38.54) in the 1,000-meter run, with Adam Pacheck and Thompson sixth and seventh, respectively, in the mile. B’ville’s girls team picked up seven points in the Constantino meet, as Laura Farleman cleared 5 feet for fifth place in the high jump. Nicole Fecco, Alyssa Hingre, Quaneisha Ivey and Jaimee Balloni were fifth in the 4×400 relay in 4:30.30. In the 1,000, Ashley Shaheen ran to fifth place (3:19.10) and Lindsay Varga (3:19.52) earned sixth place.
