Organization representing more than 100 unions backs Democratic candidate
The Greater Syracuse Labor Council announced its support for Democrat Stephanie Miner in the race for Mayor of Syracuse today at a morning news conference. “From the operating engineers to the hotel workers to the communications workers to the
electrical workers, as brothers and sisters joined by organized labor, we have united to support Stephanie Miner for Mayor of Syracuse,” said Greater Syracuse Labor Council President Dennis Nave. The Labor Council represents more than 40,000 people and more than 100 unions.
“Stephanie has been an advocate because she understands that the bottom line in government is people and that means she will be getting up every day thinking about the best interests of the children, families and workers in Syracuse and the region,” SEIU 1199 Vice President Al Davidoff said, speaking at the SEIU1199 union headquarters. “In times when working people are forgotten everywhere you turn, we need a leader who will remember each voice in the community. Stephanie Miner is that leader and that candidate.” Prior to her run for Mayor, Miner represented employees and unions exclusively as a partner at Blitman & King, LLP.
