Moving to a quick 3-0 mark in the CNY Counties League American division, the Fayetteville-Manlius track and field teams both handled Auburn last Wednesday afternoon. In the girls Hornets’ 102-39 rout of the Maroons, Jess Marini pushed her way to first place in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.2 and also won the 400 hurdles in 1:06.8. In the 4×400 relay, Marini, Natalie Alibrandi, Audrey Wallace and Heather Martin prevailed in 4:28.2. Katie Sischo teamed with Mackenzie Carter, Colleen Mulvihill and Hannah Luber to take the 4×800 relay in 10:41 and, on her own, Sischo won the 1,500-meter run in 4:55. Courtney Chapman prevailed at 3,000 meters in 10:44.5 and Gennie Ariotti took her turn in the 800-meter run, winning in 2:37. Erika Davin cleared 4 feet 10 inches in the high jump, while Tammy Gould won the discus (69 feet 4 1/4 inches) and Jhoville Pommells tossed the shot put 29 feet 11 inches. Isabel Carapella stepped up and took the 100-meter high hurdles in 18.1 seconds. Though the boys meet proved a bit less lopsided, F-M still had enough room for a comfortable 89-52 victory over Auburn. Alex Hatz ran the mile under 4:30 — in 4:29.3, to be precise — and covered 800 meters in a comfortable 2:10 after helping Jon Cico, Ben Sargrad and Joe Hartnett take the 4×800 relay in 9:18. Brendan Farrell won the 3,200-meter run (10:26.1). Chris Ruggeri prevailed twice, in the 110-meter high hurdles (17.5 seconds) and triple jump (37 feet 11 inches), as Mike Matonse, Almir Alemic, Ryan Jones and Jon Leavitt took the 4×100 relay in 47.5 seconds. Karl Thompson took over in throwing events, prevailing in the shot put (46 feet 6 inches) and tossing the discus 122 feet 4 inches. Auburn, in defeat, saw Matt Clark win the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and long jump.
