Just two days after falling in a league meet to Cicero-North Syracuse, the Baldwinsville boys track and field team went to Friday’s Clinton Junkyard Relays, where it won the team championship with 96.50 points, six better than Utica Proctor in an 18-team field. Andrew Hoover, Jon Hingre and Ethan Pacheck were present when B’ville won the 3×400 relay shuffle in 3:03.45, more than four seconds ahead of runner-up Oneida. Andrew Fleming, Alec Peinkofer, Alex Malecki and Josh Perez took second in the distance medley relay (11:27.76), with Peinkofer, Fleming, Sean Maar and Nate Wicks second in the 1,000 sprint medley (2:11.40). Wicks and Antonio Peck got together with Parker Kiff and Alex Nagy to prevail in the 4×200 in 1:35.98, with Proctor (1:36.41) close behind. The mile relay saw Peinkofer win the individual title in 4:31.36 and team with Fleming, Perez and Nate LoParco for the team title. In the 4×400, B’ville nearly won as Pacheck, Malecki, Hoover and Matt Pond finished in 3:34.06, just behind New Hartford (3:33.87). Also, the Bees were fourth in the 4×800. Moving to a unique 4×100 relay for athletes 220 pounds and up, Mark Stanard, Jake Margrey, Tom McGetrick and Jacob Florack edged Oneida, 54.94 seconds to 55.02. Hoover won the individual 110 high hurdles in 16.07 seconds. Also, Margrey, McGetrick and Kirk Anderson were third in the 25-pound weight throw, with Stanard third among individuals in the discus with 134 feet 6 inches as he, McGetrick and Pat McNamara shared third in the team portion. It was the same in the shot put, where McGetrick, Margrey and Pat Miller took third-place honors. Shawn Calnan was second among individuals in the high jump, clearing 5 feet 10 inches.
