Trick or treat: Your best bets for Halloween fun in B’ville

Trick or treat: Your best bets for Halloween fun in B’ville

Halloween is Tuesday, Oct. 31, but if one day just isn’t enough to contain your spooky spirit, there’s plenty of  hayrides, ghostwalks and other spooky pursuits this October. Read on for our top three Halloween haunts:

BCA Ghostwalk

6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday Oct. 21, starting and ending at the Baldwinsville Public Library, 33 E. Genesee St., B’ville

The Baldwinsville Center for the Arts presents a historical “Ghostwalk” that includes five stops at historical locations in the village, each with actors portraying “ghosts” with tales of B’ville past.

“My son Colin and I chose the stories and created monologues and scenes based on these stories,” said Kelley Hamilton, BCA director and voice teacher in Syracuse University’s musical theater program. “The actors include local high school students, acting majors from Syracuse University and professional actor, Dennis Heaphy.”

Tours begin every 15 minutes at the Baldwinsville Public Library beginning at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10; purchase tickets at bvillearts.org.

13th Hour Rising Haunted Hayride

7 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 20 to 21, 27 to 28, at 84 Merrit Road, Fulton

This haunted hayride, which won scarycuse.com’s Best Haunted Hayride in CNY award in 2015, features pyrotechnics, animatronics, custom sets and more. This hayride is recommended for those ages 13 and older.

Admission is $16 for the hayride or $5 for entry to “The Passage,” a paranormal mind tunnel; admission to both attractions is $20. First responders and military personnel with proper ID get a free hayride. Only cash is accepted. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Visit 13thhourrising.com for more information.

Van Buren Halloween Fun Fest

10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Van Buren Park, 7350 Canton St., Baldwinsville.

Kids and adults alike can enjoy the fall weather with carnival games, food trucks and more at the Fun Fest. Decorate pumpkins or try out the bounce house. For the full list of events and games, visit townofvanburen.com/rec-programs.

Registration is encouraged, as there is a 150-child maximum. Wristbands for games and activities can be purchased in advance for $6 or on the day of the event for $8. Each wristband purchase comes with a goodie bag, access to the bounce house and unlimited gameplay.
