To the editor:
During election season I see signs for Assemblyman Al Stirpe. On them it says, “Always There For You.” Those words are very true. There is evidence all around our community showing that Assemblyman Stirpe has, in fact, been there for us.
As a community member I see sidewalks providing safe passage for residents of low income housing, improved lighting making our streets safer and recreational areas such as Green Lakes State Park updated to be more accessible and enriching for all. For his work protecting our environment, Assemblyman Stirpe has earned the support of the Sierra Club.
As a taxpayer I see Assemblyman Stirpe standing up for Central New York business and manufacturing. I see businesses expanding and new business starting — helping restore the good paying manufacturing jobs lost in decades past. While doing this, the assemblyman also stands up for fair wages and for safe working conditions. Always looking for opportunities to grow our economy, the assemblyman works to connect business leaders and with local institutions of higher education to help provide local businesses with the skilled workers they need.
And, finally as an educator, I see Assemblyman Stirpe’s support everywhere. Through his constant visitations to schools throughout the area, he is aware of the needs of students from pre-k to post-grad. The assemblyman’s advocacy has kept vital special education services in place for 300 preschool children with special needs at the North Syracuse Early Education Program at Main Street in North Syracuse, provided support for student music, art, and athletic programs and helped erase a $20 million debt incurred by the North Syracuse Central School District, the impact of which would have caused debilitating cuts to student programs for a decade.
Has Assemblyman Stirpe always been there for us? Yes! Please join me on Nov. 6 in support of an elected official who lives up to his promises just like his campaign sign says.
