A tradition of excellence continued for the Jamesville-DeWitt/F-M girls gymnastics team as it rolled to a 10th Section III championship in 11 years during Friday’s sectional meet at the CNY Gym Centre at Shoppingtown Mall.
Head coach Tracey Fishkin’s J-D/F-M squad also qualified four of its gymnasts – Taylor Riley, Taylor Fishkin, Payton Riley and Sanya Glabuer – for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association meet, which will take place March 1 at SUNY-Brockport. Section III is the defending team champion in that event.
In that team competition, J-D/F-M picked up 178.475 points to earn the title in the Large School division, plus the overall crown over Small School champion Whitesboro, who finished with 175.775 points. Taylor Riley tied Todd for the top spot in the uneven bars, each of them scoring 9.625 as Payton Riley, with a 9.275, finished fourth and Glauber (9.0) tied for sixth. Glauber’s best finish came on the balance beam, where her 9.375 secured a state meet berth on that apparatus.
