Whiting Road in the town of Elbridge between Fikes and Fowler roads will close Monday June 6 to allow the Onondaga County Department of Transportation to commence a bridge replacement project.
The DOT will replace the existing deteriorated concrete structure at White Bottom Creek built in 1944 with a precast concrete box culvert, DOT officials said. The road is expected to re-open in mid-July.
The following signed detour will be in effect:
From the east, travel northerly on Laird Road, to the intersection of Peru Road. Turn left and proceed southwesterly. Turn left at the Whiting Road Extension, and left again at the intersection of Whiting Road. Follow Whiting Road easterly to your destination.
While approaching on Whiting Road from the west, turn northerly on Whiting Road Extension and turn right at Peru Road. Proceed along Peru Road to Laird Road and turn right, going southerly until you reach Whiting Road.
