The Skaneateles boys lacrosse team is, once again, playing for a Section III Class C championship. In Thursday’s semifinal at Christian Brothers Academy’s Alibrandi Stadium, the no. 2 seed Lakers Lakers met no. 3 seed Cortland, who held off CBA 11-10 in its quarterfinal two nights earlier. This one, like the 15-3 win over Westhill in the quarterfinals, would also prove one-sided as the Lakers, led again by the unstoppable trio of Jevin Rice, Paul O’Donnell and Mike Richards, beat the Purple Tigers 20-9. Any suspense was gone by the time the first quarter was completed. Winning every face-off and attacking with success, Skaneateles roared to an 8-0 lead, and the margin grew to 14-3 by halftime. The rest proved a formality, as Rice finished with 10 points, gained through five goals and five assists. O’Donnell also found the net five times, adding two assists, while Richards worked his way to two goals and three assists. In support, Brendan Major scored twice as Connor O’Hara, Nate Scuderi, Jack Fabrizio, Jeff Higman, Zach Brownlee and Alex Brownlee earned one goal apiece. Goalie Ryan Higman finished with eight saves.
