Each of the Baldwinsville track and field teams took part in one more meet before this week’s Section III Class AA championships take place at Cicero-North Syracuse. On the girls side Friday, B’ville hosted the ‘Last Chance’ Meet, where it earned several victories. Sierra Earle, in fact, prevailed twice, throwing the discus 89 feet 10 inches and also taking the shot put with a toss of 31 feet 10 1/4 inches. Carlie McNamara was third (77 feet 9 inches) in the discus. Emily Soeder also won, clearing 5 feet in the high jump as Guilianna Madonna (4 feet 8 inches) was fifth and Christina Pompo sixth. Andrea Pateras cleared 8 feet to get third in the pole vault as Alexi Pateras rose to third in both the triple jump (30 feet 11 inches) and triple jump (13 feet 9 inches), where Casey Devlin was fourth. On the oval, Stephanie Vasteno earned the victory in the 100-meter dash in 13 seconds flat. Mackenzie Ross ran 800 meters in 2:28.2 for second place. Liz Wisely got second place in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:15.7, with Jackie Lalla third in 1:18.1. Lily VanDeValk ran to second in the 200-meter dash (27.6 seconds), while Julia Nagy edged out Loni Vecchiarelli for fourth place. Rachel Dominic was third (5:46.5) and Lauren Fisher (5:57.2) fourth in the 1,500-meter run. Angelica Tomasello needed 1:07.2 to edge Shannon Hurley for fourth in the 400-meter dash. Danielle DePaulis was third in the 3,000-meter run, with Holly McMahon in fourth, while Allie Pesano got fifth in the 100-meter hurdles. As for the boys Bees, it went to Saturday’s CNS Invitational for a bit of fine-tuning and rose to second place in a 20-team field with 69 points, only bettered by the Northstars’ 127 points. Its lone win came in the 4×800, with Shaun Thompson, Ethan Pacheck, Matt Pond and Alec Peinkofer roaring a time of 8:23.65, exactly 15 seconds better than the Northstars. B’ville was fourth in both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. On his own, Thompson nearly won the mile, his time of 4:20.71 just behind West Genesee’s John DeLallo (4:20.25). Peinkofer roared to third in the 800, finishing in 2:00.97 behind two big stars, Liverpool’s Zavon Watkins (1:55.05) and West Genesee’s Billy Gabriel ( 1:57.47). Antonio Peck took third in the 100 (11.52 seconds), with Todd Mitchell (11.53 seconds) fourth. Mitchell turned to the 200 and claimed third place in 23.41 seconds. Ethan Pacheck got fifth (52.42 seconds) in the 400 sprint. Andrew Hoover needed 15.62 seconds for third place in the 110 high hurdles and was fourth (58.80 seconds) in a swift 400 hurdles) where Liverpool’s Keewan Rondinello won in 56.45 seconds. Mark Stanard threw the discus 128 feet 8 inches to finish third as Jake Margrey was fifth (42 feet 7 inches) in the shot put and Shawn Calnan was sixth in the high jump.
