Christian Brothers Academy’s girls golf team had a vivid memory of how Jamesville-DeWitt had beaten them earlier this season. Not wanting that to happen again, the Brothers pulled away from the Red Rams to claim the Onondaga High School League championship tournament Wednesday at Woodcrest Golf Club. Overall, CBA had a team total of 334, well clear of J-D, who took the runner-up spot with 395. East Syracuse-Minoa was fourth with 446. Individually, Mary Fletcher repeated her 2010 title, shooting a 77 to beat her teammate, Elisabeth Webber, by two shots. Kim Jung-Hye, Sarah Kitts and Emilie Oakes made up the rest of the squad. For J-D, Kara Capstraw posted an 86, three strokes better than Molly Hair. As this was going on, J-D did have a 191-221 victory over Skaneateles, where Hair posted a 41 and Capstraw contributed a 45. Lindsay Sherling posted a 49. Just before the league tournament, J-D and CBA both won head-to-head matches. At Drumlins, CBA took care of Skaneateles 170-218, where Fletcher shot a 39 and Emilie Oakes, with a 40, lagged close behind.. Over at Butternut Creek, J-D met Westhill at Lafayette Country Club, where the Red Rams prevailed 159-173. Capstraw posted a 35, one shot ahead of Hair and the Warriors’ Nicole Deming. Keeping itself undefeated within the CNY Counties League, Fayetteville-Manlius took out Liverpool 177-226. Amid the unfamiliar surroundings of Liverpool Country Club, Alex Seabury shot a 41, two shots ahead of teammate Meghan Kingsley as the Warriors’ Deanna Peterson led her side with a 50.
