Christian Brothers Academy’s boys track and field team put up the biggest challenge to host Marcellus in Monday’s Onondaga High School League Liberty division championship meet. Hannibal, with 67 points, was far back in third place. Emmanuel Collins swept to victories in the sprints, as he beat teammate Deshawn Salter, 11.70 seconds to 11.81, in the 100-meter dash and won the 200-meter dash in 23.22 seconds, edging Solvay’s Nick Cometti (23.35) at the wire. In the 4×100 relay, Collins, Salter, Nate Fornal and Kevin Frasor prevailed in 45.21 seconds, more than a second clear of Marcellus (46.76), as the Brothers also got fourth in the 4×400 (3:46.87). Frasor, on his own, was second in the 400-meter dash (52.74 seconds). Brendan Smith needed 4:28.14 to beat Marcellus’ Ryan Manahan by 8.59 seconds in the mile, with Jack Brower taking fourth in the 800-meter run (2:05.91) Dan Predmore would win the discus, heaving it 117 feet 9 inches, as Salter got third in the shot put (39 feet 11 3/4 inches). Will Brower rose to second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.37 and cleared 5 feet 6 inches to tie Marcellus’ Nick Stogsdill for the top clearance in the high jump. He added a fifth in the 110 high hurdles. Jared Sayles, fourth in the 400, had a third-place long jump of 17 feet 4 1/2 inches. Luke Brown (35 feet 1 1/4 inches) and Gideon Dixon were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the triple jump as Ben Capella claimed sixth place in the pentathlon.
