A lot of hard work by a young and learning Baldwinsville boys lacrosse team has resulted in the team getting back above the .500 mark just before its return to the post-season. The Bees improved to 6-6 last Tuesday night when it went to Central Square and worked its way to a 13-7 victory over the Red Hawks. It wasn’t that easy at the start. Central Square played on even terms in the first half, going to the break with a 5-5 tie, but B’ville would dominate the third quarter, blanking the Red Hawks and moving back in front for good with four unanswered goals. Luke Evans and Ben Paprocki each had three-goal hat tricks, with Evans adding two assists. Casey Colligan had two goals and one assist. Billy Rumble (four assists) and Joe Delia (three assists) set up scoring plays as they, along with Nick Ciampi and Kyle Koelsch, had single goals. Combined, Parker Ferrigan and Tom Lefancheck made 20 saves. Then B’ville climbed to a winning mark Friday night as it shut down Auburn 15-5. Neither team scored until the second quarter, when the Bees zoomed ahead 4-1, augmenting that charge with a 9-2 blitz through the third period. Delia set a career mark with nine assists, feeding it to Colin Gooley, who emerged with five goals, and Ciampi, who found the net three times. Rumble and Pat Colligan both had two goals as Delia and Koelsch each had one goal. Evans and Mitchell earned assists. Now at 7-6, B’ville plays once more at home, against Cicero-North Syracuse on Tuesday, before entering the Section III Class A playoffs late next week.
