East Syracuse-Minoa girls bowler Alyssa Boccardo helped the Section III All-Star team take third place at Sunday’s New York State Public High School Athletic Association tournament at Strike-N-Spare Lanes in Mattydale. Boccardo joined forces with Sabrina Williams (Camden), Katie Szczesniak (Utica Proctor), Courtney Roher (Cortland), Mary Townley (Liverpool) and Shawna Vonmatt (Waterville) in the effort. Overall, Section III had a pinfall of 5,626, just one pin behind Section V (Rochester area) for the runner-up spot and 122 pins behind Section II (Capital District), who won with 5,748. On her own, Boccardo opened with her best game of 210, then followed with games of 188, 191, 164, 153 and 182 for a six-game total of 1,088. Williams was the individual medalist with a total of 1,230, two pins ahead of Lansingburgh’s Becca Pratt.
