A pair of East Syracuse-Minoa High School freshmen, Amy Loder and Caitlin Gagen, have qualified to appear in the Empire State Winter games in the women’s bobsled. Two months ago, Loder and Gagen met the qualifications to train with the United State Junior Bobsled team in Lake Placid, and will return there Feb. 25 to 27 to race in the Empire Games at the Olympic Sports Complex. Caitlin attended East Syracuse Elementary and Amy attended Fremont Elementary before both going to Pine Grove Middle School and ESM. Amy and Caitlin have played many sports, ranging from ESM Youth Sports to travel teams, and represent ESM in sports year-round. Caitlin plays varsity girls soccer for two years and, this winter, plays on the junior varsity Basketball team and looking forward to running track this spring as well playing soccer year round. Amy plays on the varsity field hockey team and plays JV basketball with Caitlin and will be playing varsity lacrosse this spring.
