In Thursday night’s Madison County showdown, the Chittenango wrestling team proved superior to Cazenovia, earning a 51-18 victory over the Lakers. The Bears claimed every match from 119 to 152 pounds. Wes Blanding, at 135, took exactly one minute to pin Mike Nourse, while Rudy Farsaci (125 pounds) pinned Awng Hung in the second period and Alex Carter (145 pounds) earned his pin over Avery Stone-Fish with 51 seconds left. Gunnar Brooks piled up enough points for a 20-2 technical fall over Dylan Evans at 119 pounds. Nic Bacon (152 pounds) handled Dan Cossitt 18-7, with John Regan (140 pounds) earning a 7-2 decision over Teddy Kugler and Brad Phelps, at 130 pounds, holding off Brad Nardella 7-3. Cazenovia countered with three victories on the mat, none tougher than Nick Petroff, at 112 pounds, fighting to a 4-0 decision over Matt Bixby. Chris Biviano (103 pounds) got past Wyatt Blanding 12-5 and Oliver Posewitz, at 171 pounds, pinned Nick Harrington in 91 seconds. Forfeits to Cody Carbery (96 pounds), Zach Graham (189 pounds) and Tully Bloom (215 pounds) helped the margin grow as the Lakers’ Brad Lucas (285 pounds) also claimed a forfeit. The Lakers had begun its work last week by going to West Genesee last Tuesday and emerging with a 47-24 loss to the Wildcats. WG had a 24-0 lead, through three pins and a forfeit, before Chris Biviano (103 pounds) got Cazenovia on the board with a 9-4 decision over Jon Stefano and Nick Petroff (112 pounds) claimed a forfeit. Later in the meet, Brad Nardella provided a boost at 130 pounds with a 56-second pin over Tyler Heggelke, while Teddy Kugler (145 pounds) finished off Ryan Darling in 90 seconds and Dan Cossitt (160 pounds) beat Erik Krohl 7-2. At 140 pounds, Patrick Karmis took a 6-4 defeat to Tim Schreyer as Mike Nourse (135 pounds) lost to Jon Fetterolf 8-4.
