Everything is now in place as the Baldwinsville boys soccer teams set out Wednesday night for Swan Pond and its big meeting with Fayetteville-Manlius, following a first full week of October where the Bees swamped three opponents by a combined 17-1 margin. The lead-up to F-M commenced with last Monday’s home game against Rome Free Academy, where the Bees ignored the rain and beat the Black Knights 6-1. Jon Price led the way as B’ville jumped all over RFA, grabbing a 5-0 lead by halftime. Price finished with a three-goal hat trick, passes coming from Ben Ramin, who had a goal and two assists. Adam Lauko had one goal and one assist, while Nate Carella also picked up a goal. Casey Murphy, Stefan Merchant and Jacob Lunduski each had one assist. Though faced with a tougher task Wednesday night at Utica Proctor, the Bees were up to it, recording a 4-0 shutout over the Raiders. Again, a quick start helped, as B’ville in the first half bolted out to a 3-0 lead. Lauko again led the way, scoring twice as Ramin and Sean Coyne also found the net. Murphy and Jake Lunduski got credit for assists. In Friday’s game against Henninger, the Bees bashed that other group of Black Knights 7-0, this time spreading out its offense among several different players as it pulled far away from a 3-0 halftime margin. Ramin, with two goals and one assist, and Lauko, with one goal and two assists, set the pace. Price, Merchant, Kevin Thompson and Trevor Pauldine chimed in with goals of their own as Coyne, Lunduski and Kyle Mulligan picked up assists. All this leads to the F-M rematch. The two sides met in last year’s Section III Class AA final, won by the Bees, its third straight sectional title. Back on Sept. 4, the Hornets prevailed, 1-0, in the Chittenango Fall Classic, though this game will be a more accurate barometer on where the two state-ranked powers (B’ville is no. 12, F-M is no. 7) stand with the Class AA playoffs looming.
