Under sun-splashed skies on Saturday at Jamesville Beach Park, the Baldwinsville cross country teams stepped out for its first race of the 2010 season at the Chittenango Invitational. In this case, the girls Bees had the better finish, taking fifth out of 10 entries in Division II with a total of 132 points. Cicero-North Syracuse, with 68 points, took the top spot. Annie Peterson led the way, the sophomore posting an 11th-place time of 20 minutes, 33.9 seconds, and right behind was eighth-grader Rachel Miller, who debuted by claiming 13th place in 20:41.8. Behind them, junior Andrea Moore got to 32nd place in 22:20.7, with sophomore Julia Johnson 34th in 22:25.1. Sophomore Sydney Slavik, in 42nd place (22:47.2), rounded out the scoring column. In the 11-team boys Division II race at Jamesville Beach, B’ville was right in the middle, taking sixth with 124 points as West Genesee (65 points) won the crown and CNS was second. Sophomore Alec Peinkofer finished 17th in a clocking of 16:46.2, with senior Ethan Pacheck earning 21st place in 16:51.1 and sophomore Andy Fleming 25th in 17:03.9. Josh Perez, a ninth-grader, found his way to 33rd place in 17:21.8, while sophomore Ronnie May was 40th in 17:34.3.
