Members of the Camillus Elks Lodge #2367 and the Boy Scouts of America Troop #60 from Warners celebrated Flag Day Sunday June 13 at the Camillus Elks Lodge on Newport Road in Camillus. The ceremony began with Elks officers describing the Elks’ history and commitment to our symbol of freedom. Members troop 60 carried eight historical U.S. Flags into the lodge as Elks Ontario District Vice President Don Fittipaldi provided a colorful description of each flag. The ceremony continued as Past Ontario District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Irene Pashley provided a history of the U.S. flag and its symbolism during our country’s history. “This ceremony is classic example of how the Elks celebrate and support Americanism,” said Camillus Elks Exalted Ruler James Roe. “By partnering with the Boy Scouts, each organization is able to meet its Americanism obligations.” Participants from the Boy Scouts were Timothy Grooms, Robert Eckert, Josh Minor, John Sanderson, Jay Rawling, Don Miner, Beth Rawling, Charles Grooms, and Sandy Sanderson. Participants from the Camillus Elks lodge included Don Fittipaldi, Irene Pashley, James Roe, Tom Kinsella, Don Laxton, Diane Daniels, Larry Gerber, Don Bellefieuille, Richard Flaherty, Rocco Arcaro, Jay Mason, Frank Legg, and Paul Skardinski.
