Just a few days removed from defeats to Liverpool, each of Baldwinsville’s track and field teams would find complete success in weekend meets. The girls Bees went first, going to Friday’s East Syracuse-Minoa Invitational and, with 101.5 points, took first-place honors. Utica Proctor was second with 91 points and Rome Free Academy (85 points) finished third. Gina Carnovale and Paige Corso gained a 1-2 finish in the 200-meter dash, as Carnovale won in 27.98 seconds and Corso (28.42 seconds) claimed the runner-up spot. Gabrielle Jordan was second to RFA star Jessica Razy in the 100-meter dash (13.14 seconds), with Alyssa Hingre fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.29. In distance races, Jaimee Balloni earned a second-place time of 2:26.52 in the 800-meter run, while Anne Peterson took second (11:22.55) and Mallory Warner (11:30.27) third in the 3,000-meter run. Ashley Shaheen got fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:23.71. Also, Lydia Darling was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:14.75) and Lizz Sawyer got sixth (18.84 seconds) in the 100-meter hurdles. Sierra Earle gave the Bees a victory in the discus, throwing it 89 feet 9 inches as Erica Miller (85 feet 5 3/4 inches) finished third. Kaleigh Castetter was fifth in the high jump, clearing 4 feet 8 inches, as Andrea Pateras tied for fifth in the pole vault and added a sixth (30 feet 8 inches) in the triple jump. Jordan, Balloni, Mackenzie Ross and Quaneisha Ivey teamed to take second place in the 4×400 relay (4:17.41) as Julia Johnson, Alexandra D’Huy, Abigail Nelson and Rachel Beneway earned second in the 4×800 (11:12.31). The Bees also got fifth (54.09 seconds) in the 4×100. A day later, at the South Jefferson Invitational in Adams, the B’ville boys track team dominated, with 131.5 points, nearly double the total of runner-up West Genesee (75 points) and the rest of the field. Rudy Sapp won the 100-meter dash, finishing in 11.27 seconds, and followed that up with a second-place time of 22.88 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Antonio Peck was fourth (11.52 seconds) in the 100 as Andrew Hoover took fifth in the 400-meter dash (53.43 seconds). B’ville won the sprint medley relay as Brian Wisely, Alex Nagy, Parker Kiff and Alec Peinkofer finished in 3:54.33, the only sub-four minute time. Sapp, Peck, Nagy and Kiff ran to second in the 4×100 in 45.96 seconds. Shaun Thompson went to the front in the mile, prevailing in 4:36.40 as Charles Parker (4:57.67) finished fifth, and Thompson also helped the Bees’ distance medley relay team win in 11:07.14, nearly a minute ahead of the field. Adam Pacheck added a 3,200-meter title in 9:58.86, the only runner to break the 10-minute mark, as Josh Perez took sixth. Thompson, Wisely, Ethan Pacheck and Chris Wicks claimed second place in the 4×800 relay in 8:43.44. Brian Kane, by clearing 6 feet, did enough to win the high jump, then turned to the triple jump and won it by going 38 feet 9 1/2 inches, beating Watertown’s Erroll Hooker by half an inch. Kane also got fourth place in the long jump. Jon Hingre was third in the 400 hurdles (1:00.55), just ahead of Kyle Beckhusen in fifth placee. Beckhusen also tied for fifth in the pole vault and was sixth in the 110 high hurdles. Raeshaun Jones grabbed third place in the discus, throwing it 126 feet 11 inches, and was fifth (42 feet 4 1/4 inches) in the shot put.
