For the Baldwinsville boys lacrosse team, an overmatched opponent can be a good outlet for pent-up rage over past misdeeds. That certainly happened during last Tuesday night’s game against Utica Proctor, as the Bees toyed with the Raiders in an 18-6 romp. Coming three days after a one-sided defeat to Fayetteville-Manlius, the Bees welcomed Proctor with seven unanswered goals in the first quarter, and it got to 16-1 before all the starters left in the final period. Billy Ward backed up his three goals with four assists as Evan States found the net four times. Bill Rumble and Justin Marra each found the net twice, while Kyle Styer earned a goal and three assists. Dom Darcangelo, Casey Colligan and Tarin Trytek matched each other with one goal and one assist as Dave Middlemore, Louis Eron and Ben Messmer each scored, too. This began a two-week homestand for the Bees, who were home again Saturday afternoon to face long-time Section V power Penn Yan. It proved to be exciting, as the Bees rallied twice to beat the Mustangs 12-11 in overtime. Penn Yan jumped all over B’ville, leading 5-1 after one period. But once the Bees started winning face-offs in the second quarter, it started to convert on a regular basis and didn’t stop until it had a 7-6 lead at the break. Fighting back, the Mustangs reclaimed a 10-9 lead before the fourth quarter, only to have the Bees tie it up again. Just after winning the overtime face-off, B’ville attacked once more and, 30 seconds into the extra period, Darcangelo notched the winning goal, his third of the day. Styer led the way with four goals and one assist, while Ward got two goals and two assists. Colligan, Rumble and Tom Lawrence both had single goals as Parker Ferrigan needed all of his 14 saves. The Bees (8-2) have its homestand continue Tuesday night, against its neighbors from Liverpool, and would conclude Thursday night against Henninger.
