Now at 3-0 on the season, both of the Fayetteville-Manlius track and field teams would find success in last Monday’s meet against Central Square. The girls Hornets nearly doubled the Red Hawks’ output in a 92-48 win, getting nice balance from its deep core of distance runners. Mackenzie Carter, back from injury that hampered her late in the indoor season, ran 3,000 meters in 10:45, while Courtney Chapman tore to victory in the 1,500-meter run in 4:40.5 and Katie Sischo needed 2:24.1 to prevail at 800 meters. Maggie Malone, who won the 400-meter dash (1:01.6), also teamed with Jillian Fanning, Kathryn Fanning and Shannon Darin to take the 4×800 relay in 10:11.2. In the sprints, Audrey Wallace took the 400-meter hurdles (1:11.4) and Molly Levy was first in the 200-meter dash (28.2 seconds). Levy, Wallace, Darin and Sicho got together to win the 4×400 relay (4:14.5) as Levy also helped the Hornets win the 4×100 in 54.4 seconds. Central Square earned victories in most of the field events, but Jhoville Pommells provided an exception as she threw the shot put 29 feet 8 inches for a win there. Meanwhile, the F-M boys team beat Central Square 87-54, getting three wins from Chris Ruggeri. He ran the 110 high hurdles in 16.6 seconds, cleared 5 feet 10 inches in the high jump and prevailed in the triple jump by going 40 feet 1 inch. Ryan Jones stepped in to take the 100 (11.7 seconds) and 200 (24.6 seconds) sprints, while Alex Hatz covered 800 meters in 2:07.8. Andrew Roache ran to first in the mile (4:53.3) and Brendan Farrell tore to first place in the 3,200-meter run in 10:01.4. F-M took two of the three relays.
