The Fayetteville-Manlius boys lacrosse team’s fourth straight win came on Tuesday night, when the Hornets defended its home field and dominated Oswego in a 16-5 romp. Only in the first quarter was it tight, as the Buccaneers trailed 2-1 before, in the middle stages, F-M took over. During the second and third periods, the Hornets outscored them by a combined 12-2. Four different players — Ari Waffle, Matt Klepper, Mike Kutzer and Glen Trachtenberg — earned three-goal hat tricks, showing the Hornets’ depth and balance. Mike O’Neil fed them all, with five assists to go with his lone goal, as Tim Krizman, Tim Beach and Taylor Gerhardt also earned goals. Brendan Englert had two assists as Jeff Shields and Jeff Bonsted also entered the assist column. As this went on, the F-M girls team would pull through a wild affair at Oswego, rallying from a big deficit to beat the Buccaneers 18-16. Oswego constantly tore through F-M’s defense in the first half. Led by Amanda D’Amico (who would get five goals) and Maia Czarnecki (four goals), the Bucs had an 11-7 edge by halftime. F-M kept pushing the pace, though, and gradually wore Oswego’s defenses down in a second-half surge. Meanwhile, the defense would make enough stops to allow for the comeback. Mollie Caputo led the Hornets with five goals. Marri Ryu scored three times as Morgan Same, Sarah Lux, Taylor Robinson and Kelly Perry each got two goals. Katie Sipple had four assists as Same got three assists. Marilyn Farrell joined Sipple in the one-goal column.
