Consider the Baldwinsville boys track and field season to be a circle or, more accurately, a lap, which will begin and end in the same place — or at least that’s what the Bees are planning. B’ville started last Saturday by competing at the Cicero-North Syracuse Relays at Bragman Stadium, on the same track where the state championships will be held June 11-12. And it was a solid debut as the Bees picked up 53 points, taking third place in a 14-team field. Only Rush-Henrietta, with 76 points, and host CNS, with 72 points, fared better. In the four-man mile relay, Nate McCabe, Shaun Thompson and Adam Pacheck took third, fifth and sixth, respectively, joining Charles Parker as B’ville won in a time of 18:56.13, more than four seconds clear of Rush-Henrietta. That same quartet would also finish third in the distance medley relay in 11:07.43. The Bees won again in the 400 hurdles as Andrew Hoover (third) and Jon Hingre (seventh) teamed up to finish in a combined 2:04.05, with Liverpool (2:05.96) nearly two seconds behind. Brian Wisely, Josh Perez, Alec Peinkofer and James Fleming combined for a second-place time of 9:06.46 in the 4×800 relay. Again, Brian Kane stood out in field events, winning the individual high jump as he cleared 6 feet 2 inches, teaming with Shawn Calnan for second place in that event. Over in the long jump, Kane and Hoover finished third, going a combined 34 feet 1 inch, with Kane and Fleming taking fifth in the triple jump. Hingre, Chris Wicks, Matt Pond and Jake Zuke were fifth in the 4×400 relay (3:50.35). Hoover took second among individuals in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.15 seconds, teaming with Kyle Beckhusen for sixth place. This proves a tasty appetizer for B’ville’s home meet against CNS on Wednesday at Pelcher-ARcaro Stadium.
