As the cap to its winter full of work and effort, the Baldwinsville boys swim team would post several high finishes during Thursday’s Section III Class A championship meet at Nottingham High School. Overall, the Bees earned 182 points, taking sixth place. West Genesee, with 323 points, held off Jamesville-DeWitt/CBA (293 points) for the top spot. Dan Burke worked his way to fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:04.94, then returned in the 100-yard backstroke and had a fourth-place time of 56.33 seconds. Mick Tarsel sped to fifth place in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.39 seconds, this after he took fifth (22.88 seconds) in the 50-yard freestyle. Nate Menapace was eighth (58.31 seconds) in the 100 butterfly and Ben Landwersiek earned that same spot in the 100-yard backstroke. Andy Bartelli swam to 10th in the 100-yard backstroke. In the 200-yard medley relay, Tarsel, Burke, Menapace and Landwersiek were fourth in a clocking of 1:46.22. Later, in the 400-yard freestyle relay, Connor Murphy joined Tarsel, Burke and Menapace to finish fourth in 3:26.63.
