Heading into the most important events of the season, the Vernon Verona Sherrill boys bowling team did not back off one bit. The Red Devils backed up its Tri-Valley League regular-season title by also winning the league tournament last Tuesday at Kingpin Lanes in Rome. In all, VVS had a pinfall of 2,931, well clear of runner-up Whitesboro, with Collin Laguzza, Zane Hasty, James Neverette, Nathan Desnoyers, Zach Laguzza, Tristan Tormey and Brad Long each taking part. From an individual standpoint, Neveretteand Desnoyers each had 595 series, while Hasty and Collin Laguzza won the doubles title with a combined 1,2229. Whitesboro’s A.J. Colosimo took singles honors with a three-game total of 654. In the girls Tri-Valley tournament at Vista Lanes in Yorkville, VVS finished second to Camden, but took the doubles title when Lizzie Van Slyke and Becky Talbot combined for a pinfall of 1,028. And while the girls bowlers wait until this Saturday to vie for Section III honors at Strike-N-Spare Lanes in Mattydale, the boys bowlers went right to Sunday’s sectional finals at Pin-O-Rama in Utica.
