Having a full roster paid off for the Skaneateles wrestling team as it rallied past rival Marcellus on Wednesday night, beating the Mustangs 41-25. The Lakers have been on a roll in 2010, having beaten both Solvay and Jordan-Elbridge, as well as gone 4-0 at its own Dual Meet on Jan. 15. The win over Marcellus reinforced this, though it took a while for Skaneateles to take over. Jacob Brillo, at 171 pounds, opened the meet by pinning T.J. Hamilton in 1:14, only to see Marcellus win the next three matches, all by pin, before Tyler Saunders (112 pounds) claimed a forfeit. Kevin Pembridge went on the mat at 130 pounds, pinning Matt Dempsey with 39 seconds left, but the real clincher came two matches later, when Jacob Valentino (140 pounds) earned a technical fall over Ryan Long. From there, the Mustangs had no more competitors, so Jacob Carvalho (145 pounds), Chad Gray (152 pounds) and Chris Wise (160 pounds) each took forfeits to earn the Lakers the 18 points it needed to go in front.
