Will Fiacchi has made his decision – next fall, he will be continuing his football career at the University of Albany. The Marcellus senior, one of the most prolifice quarterbacks in state history, made his verbal commitment on Tuesday night, just weeks before the national signing day. Albany got the nod over Holy Cross, Princeton and Rhode Island, all of whom were courting Fiacchi. In three years as the Mustangs’ starting quarterback, Fiacchi accumulated 6,971 passing yards, third in state history (Greg Paulus is tops with 11,760), and led the team to winning records in each of those three years. This culminated in 2009, when Fiacchi, a first-team All-State selection, accounted for 2,607 yards through the air as the Mustangs reached its first-ever Section III Class B final at the Carrier Dome before falling to Westhill. Fiacchi is also a three-year starter for the Marcellus boys varsity basketball team and is the team’s leading scorer this season.
