Residents’ weed managment efforts on Otisco Lake took an important step last week with the arrival of an independent weed removal company based out of Cazenovia. Joe Weinheimer of Windsong Farms delivered his harvester to the lake Friday morning, where he will be available to “mow” homeowner’s weedy water properties for the next three weeks. Harvested weed material is removed from the water and used by local farmers as mulch. Vince Legnetto of the Otisco Lake Preservation Association said removing floating biomass will help to reduce unsightly spots on the lake and make it more appealing for both residents and the public who come to fish and boat.
