Blanked by West Genesee earlier in the week, the Cicero-North Syracuse ice hockey team had little time to fret about it.
Instead, the Northstars hosted Baldwinsville Friday night at the Twin Rinks. CNS had a better showing, yet still took a frustrating 2-1 loss to the Bees.
Breaking its own scoring drought, the Northstars went ahead 1-0 in the first period when Brian Hamilton, off a feed from Billy Temple, pushed a shot past B’ville goalie Nick Leader.
For a while, that goal held up, thanks to the strong work of Joe Feldman in the net as he worked his way to 39 saves for the night.
B’ville didn’t beat Feldman, but did get Connor Bertrand to earn the tying goal in the second period. Adam Mohr, who assisted on Bertrand’s goal, then scored on his own with 9:12 to play in regulation, and that go-ahead goal held up. Leader finished with 21 saves.
At home Tuesday night, CNS encounters Cortland/Homer, after which it pays a visit to Auburn on Thursday.
