Five days before going to the Section III Class AA championship meet, the Fayetteville-Manlius wrestling team put one more entry in the win column during last Monday night’s visit to Auburn, battering the Maroons 47-15.
F-M won each of the first seven matches. Ian Byrnes, in the 145-pound opener, pinned Rocco DeFranco in 1:42, as Mike Mannion (152 pounds) beat Mike Henn 15-6.
Moving to 160 pounds, Keith Jones fought off Justin Gimore 3-1, while Jordan McDonald (171 pounds) pinned Dominic Colella in 3:23.
To make it five in a row, Roger Colon (189 pounds) worked his way past Ian Merritt 9-1 as Steve Breen (215 pounds) took 2:40 to finish off Matt Mattes and Jacob Norton (103 pounds) claimed a forfeit.
Only at 112 pounds did Auburn get on the board, when F-M had to forfeit to Joe Giacona. Josh Scalzetti (119 pounds) then used an overtime takedown to beat Luke Netti 9-7, while Rob Powell (130 pounds) edged Kenny Currier 8-7 and Ryan Kiggins (135 pounds) took 1:51 to pin Dan Rabuano.
