After going through a rough start in the OHSL Liberty division, the Skaneateles wrestling team was desperate to find any kind of success. The Lakers had dropped a 78-0 decision to Phoenix on Dec. 9, then were off until a solid showing in the Dec. 19 Falcon Duals at Fabius-Pompey that included a 35-21 win over the host Falcons. Kevin Pembridge, at 130 pounds, started the meet with a 15-0 technical fall over Marcel LaChance achieved early in the third period. Alan Notarpole (135 pounds) claimed a forfeit, but F-P won the next two matches, both close ones as Jake Valentino (140 pounds) fell in overtime to Jeremy Skvarch 12-10 and Jacob Carvalho (145 pound) took a 6-5 defeat to Ben Young. But Chad Gray got the Lakers back to the win column at 152 pounds, pinning Guthrie Cordone in 2:51, and by having R.J. Beck (112 pounds), Tyler Saunders (119 pounds) and Ryan Dick (125 pounds) present to claim forfeits, the Lakers prevailed.
