Finger Lakes art in Marcellus
Local artist David Beale will display his original watercolors of the Finger Lakes region through Dec. 30 at the Marcellus Free Library, 32 Maple Street, Marcellus. Beale began painting in watercolor at the age of 50. He has taken workshops with nationally recognized watercolorists Arnie Westerman and Frank Webb. After serving in the Peace Corps, studying music composition and having his own remodeling company for more than 20 years,, David now owns and operates The Picture House, a frame shop/gallery/studio located in Cortland, NY, where he paints and teaches in addition to framing. He also serves as part time Executive Director of the Cultural Council of Cortland County. David now lives in a cottage he built overlooking a seven acre wildlife pond which provides the inspiration for many of his paintings. The library is open 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday; 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
