Busy in the early part of the 2009-10 season, the Cicero-North Syracuse wrestling team had four events in a nine-day span, including the Andersen Tournament it hosted on Dec. 5. Just three days later, the Northstars were home again, this time facing West Genesee (who had also appeared in the Andersen Tournament), and earned its first CNY Counties League win of the winter by topping the Wildcats 52-16. CNS won each of the first nine matches, starting at 135 pounds, where Kiel Dyer toppled Nick Fetterolf 7-1 and continuing with Matt Dunham (140 pounds) pulling out a 4-3 decision over Mike Young. Then Patrick Dyer took over, at 145 pounds, pinning Nick Longo in 1:19 before James Segars (152 pounds) pinned Erik Krohl midway through the third period. At 160 pounds, Andy Osborne took just 1:13 to finish off Evan Stefano before Todd Haggard claimed a 171-pound forfeit. And still the Northstars were not done. In the 189-pound match, Ariel Anocedo pinned Nick Marco 49 seconds into the second period, while Matt Mastro (215 pounds) got his pin over Joe Clancy in 3:45 and Dan Cicciarelli (103 pounds) routed Logan Dirk 12-1. Only now did the Wildcats get on the board, as it took three of the last four matches, the exception coming when Tony Battista, at 119 pounds, pinned Tyler Heggelke in 1:15.
