Getting another chance to display its quality, the Liverpool boys cross country team made an impressive showing at last Saturday’s Nike Cross Regional Championships. For the second time in as many weeks, the Warriors were at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, on the same 3.1-mile course where the State Federation championships took place. Competing as the Liverpool XC Club, the Warriors finished fifth in a 20-team field, earning 144 points. Fayetteville-Manlius (as Manlius XC Club) won the team event as both the boys and girls Hornets advanced to this weekend’s Nike Nationals in Portland, Ore. Seniors Colin Savage and Alex Wilke ran to the finish line at exactly the same time of 16 minutes, 41.9 seconds, as Savage finished 18th and Wilke took 19th place. Another senior, Anthony Brais, ran his way to 48th place in 17:11.4, while senior Chris Clemons took 52nd place in 17:15.3 and Nick Hull (17:26.3) took 64th place. Senior Mychal Ostuni was 95th (17:52.3), with junior Brandon Rudd finishing in 18:10.1.
