The Camillus Optimist Club acknowledged the extraordinary efforts of West Genesee students and teachers last week at the annual awards ceremony, held Nov. 4 at Gilfillan’s West Hill Catering Club. West Genesee Middle School students Jacqueline Pardee and Gregory Spicer, Camillus Middle School students Delaney Nolan and James Hickey and WG high schoolers Gabriella Dattellas and Derek Peterson were all recognized with the Joseph A. Witowski Outstanding Student award. The club bestowed the 1009 Joseph A. Wiowski Teacher of the Year award upon East Hill and Onondaga Road Elementary school psychologist Alison Conley, WG middle school social studies teacher Stephen Dunham and WG high school French teacher Kathleen Wagner. The recipients of this award were selected by their peers for their sensitivity to the needs of students, ability to create an exciting and challenging classroom atmosphere, and for growing professionally and contributing to the quality of instruction at WG. The program was coordinated by Optimists James Crockett, Brian Normoyle, David Philippone and Karen Tifft.
