Mayor Matthew J. Driscoll, Congressman Dan Maffei, County Executive Joanne M. Mahoney; New York State Department of Transportation Regional Planning and Program Manager Joe Flint, C & S Engineers President John D. Trimble, P.E., SIDA Chairman Irwin Davis, Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board Executive Director David V. Bottar and City Engineer Mary E. Robison, P.E. officiated the Syracuse Creekwalk Phase I Groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, Nov. 6, on the Walton Street Bridge overlooking Onondaga Creek. This project is the construction of a mixed-use bicycle and pedestrian path. It will link two existing sections of the Creekwalk, which are in Franklin Square and the Inner Harbor, and extend the Creekwalk both north and south of the existing sections. The result will be a continuous bicycle/pedestrian path, which extends from Downtown Syracuse, at West Jefferson St (Armory Square) to the southern shore of Onondaga Lake, near Carousel Center.
