While being OHSL Liberty division regular-season champions again felt nice, the Sknaeateles girls tennis team wanted more — namely, the Section III Class B team title. The Lakers, despite being unbeaten, had the no. 2 seed for the tournament because no. 1 seed New Hartford also was undefeated. That didn’t keep Skaneateles from dominating last Thursday’s Class B quarterfinal against no. 2 seed Cazenovia, winning the battle of Laker teams 7-0. Amitra Deol demolished Lauren MacHose 6-0, 6-0 to get it moving. Hillary Fenner topped Alex Crawford 6-4, 7-5, while Elizabeth Lane needed three sets to earn a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 win over Liz Palmer. Over in doubles, Megan Holleran and Katherine Hill ripped Laura Gregg and Hannah Koennecke 6-3, 6-0, as Ryan Merle and Sidney Lawson got past Kelly Furlong and Sarah Glass 6-0, 6-4. Dani Alderman and Katharina Kulik beat Renee Groetz and Morgan Cowherd 6-1, 6-4 as Kathryn Magee and Casey VanSlyke rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mary Reizun and Olivia Bowser. In the Class B semifinal, Skaneateles will face no. 6 seed Jamesville-DeWitt, who took out a pair of Tri-Valley League teams (Oneida and Camden) to get this far.
