Jamesville-DeWitt’s cross country teams continued its season-long domination of the OHSL Freedom division, while East Syracuse-Minoa also notched a pair of wins. J-D hosted Chittenango Wednesday afternoon, beating the Bears 19-43 on the boys side, and 19-42 on the girls side. Individually, Dan Frank won a close boys race over Chittenango’s Josiah Durfee, finishing in 15 minutes, 58 seconds, three seconds ahead of Durfee. The help came from Bumkoth Jiak and Eamon Kissane, who both hit the line in 18:29 for the third and fourth spots as Dan Driscoll (16:33) finished fifth. Max Smith was sixth (16:47), with Jacob Gorke seventh in 17:03 and Tyler Petersen (17:15) landing in ninth place. In the girls race, J-D finished 1-2-3 as Eileen Cody won in a time of 19:24, nearly a minute ahead of Ameena Dye (20:14) in second place as Rebecca Bergman (20:40) edged out the Bears’ Becca Sager (20:41) for fourth place. Grace Bradshaw led the Rams’ next wave, in sixth place (20:58), while Paige Morrow took seventh (21:09), Avery Share was eighth (21:23) and Amber Blom (21:25) landed in ninth place. As this was going on, ESM went to Homer and won both sides of its meet with the Trojans, prevailing 18-39 on the boys side and 27-32 in the girls meet. Craig Andrianos won the boys race for the Spartans in 17 minutes, 21 seconds, leading a sweep of the top four spots. Matt Lyons was second, in 17:28, with Dylan Courbat third (17:37) and Andrew Troast (17:45) in fourth place. Further down the list, Pete Ferstler finished eighth (18:17) and Lou Ferrone (18:34) claimed 10th place. ESM’s Meghan Visser was second in the girls race in a time of 20:12 to Homer’s Bori Tozser (19:48), and the Trojans claimed three of the top five spots in between Visser and Alyssa Passett (22:34) in fourth place. Marissa Kite, claiming sixth place (23:02), led the winning push as Elizabeth VanDeusen took seventh (23:28) and Mallory Martino (24:06) got the clinching points. Meg Crandall (24:20) and Nicole Verrone (24:31) also cracked the top 10.
