Audrey Misiano
Spanish I and II (grades 9-12), Marcellus High School
Family/pets: Husband Kevin, a math teacher at West Genesee High School, daughter Soleil, 2, son Geo, 6 months, and cats Tigger and Mia How long have you been teaching?
12 years
How did you become interested in teaching, and this subject in particular?
I’ve Always wanted to teach since I was 6 or 7, and would “play school” with my little brothers… I’d be the teacher and they’d sit at our little round table and do exercises I gave them. Then I studied abroad in France, Spain and Costa Rica and absolutely fell in love with language and culture. What drew you to this school and community?
I grew up in Borodino, graduated from Skaneateles and now live in the Marcellus School District. When my husband and I bought a house, we preferred the Marcellus area becuase it was only 20 minutes from my parents and only 15 minutes from my previous teaching position in Syracuse. Plus at the time, we knew we wanted kids and Marcellus was our first choice in school districts for our children. Are you involved with the school/community outside of your class?
Not yet, my children are so young. But I hope to do more in the future!
What goals have you set for yourself in your first year at this school?
New and improved lessons that will hopefully reach all students!
