Now it’s 15 straight meet wins for the Christian Brothers Academy girls swim team, who took care of Jamesville-DeWitt 99-82 in last Thursday night’s showdown at the LeMoyne College pool. Ignoring J-D’s 3-0 mark, the Brothers took charge right away as Summer Schmitt, Destiny Cerlanek, Kathryn Coughlin and Maggie Fletcher put together a time of 1:54.64 in the 200 medley relay. Moving on from there, Fletcher swam the 200 individual medley in 2:18.93, and earned a second title in the 100 butterfly in a quick time of 1:02.03. She also teamed with Schmitt, Coughlin and Juliette Wetzel to take the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.10. On her own, Wetzel won the 50 freestyle in 26 seconds flat, while Schmitt needed 2:02.72 to fly through the 200 freestyle. Emily Wanamaker 192.20 points on the diving board. Showing its depth, CBA had Ruthie Speidel take the 100 freestyle (56.82 seconds), with Zoe McCauley earning a victory in the 500 freestyle (5:43.61). Cara Peters was first in the 100 backstroke (1:05.31) as Michelle Damico tore through the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.55. J-D’s lone win came in the 400 freestyle relay, where Gillian McGann, Kathryn Comanici, Amanda Behan and Molly Hair posted a time of 4:14.13. It has already been an eventful week for both teams, on a large and small scale. CBA had stunned defending state champion Pittsford on Sept. 20, the first time anyone had beaten Pittsford in a meet in 12 years. Meanwhile, J-D had a meet with Westhill/Corcoran two days before the CBA showdown, easily beating the Warriors 101-78. As a starting point, Ashley Buck, Jillian Rippon, Molly Hair and Caitlin Hence won the 200 medley relay in 2:07.32. Rippon went on to take the 100 butterfly in 1:05.11. Elsewhere, Kalie Coyne won the 200 freestyle (2:11.89) and helped Buck, Lauren Crosby and Bridget O’Grady blaze to a win in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:52.36. Morgan Gunther was first in the 500 freestyle (6:14.26) and Kathryn Comanici won the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.58.
