Coming off a narrow defeat to Cicero-North Syracuse in its season opener, the Baldwinsville boys soccer team came home to Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium and, at its own Kickoff Classic, dominated the competition. In Friday’s opening round, B’ville tore past West Genese 5-1, racing out to a 3-0 halftime lead behind the work of Kyle Mulligan, who finished with two goals and two assists. Jon Goodridge, Anthony Vecchio and Adam Lauko joined in the fun, each scoring once, with Dan Knight adding an assist. Moving on to Saturday’s final, B’ville played Central Square, who edged past Jamesville-DeWitt 1-0 in the other half of the opening round. In control from the start, the Bees flattened the Red Hawks 7-0 for the title, unleashing all the facets of its attack on an overwhelmed Central Square defense. Mulligan, with two goals and one assist, was one of six different players to score as Vecchio, Hobie Ramin, Casey Murphy, Trevor Pauldine and Brandyn Peters also took turns getting goals. Goodridge and Ben Ramin each got two assists. In the consolation game, Jamesville-DeWitt beat West Genesee 2-0. B’ville will get another shot at CNS on Sept. 24 at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium. In the meantime, the Bees would host Auburn Monday and visit Utica Proctor on Friday.
