On the last day of August, Chittenango’s boys golf team began its 2009 season by performing quite well on its home course, handling East Syracuse-Minoa’s Orange squad by a score of 209-252 at Poolsbrook. The Bears put together the four lowest individual rounds of the afternoon. Ryan McGinnis covered nine holes in 36, close to par, as Mike McIntosh put together a 38. Behind them, Caleb Mannix and Joe Ezzo each shot 42. Going to Vesper Hills on Wednesday, the Bears met Tully and could not repeat that initial success, falling to the Black Knights 193-201. This happened despite McGinnis notching the best round once more, a 35, two shots ahead of Tully’s Chris Jacobus. However, each of the Black Knights’ top players broke 40, while only Joe Ezzo, with a 39, joined McGinnis in that same category.
