Jesse Norcross announced Tuesday night to the Camillus Village Board that he would resign his post as president of the Camillus Fire Department effective the end of the month. Norcross said because he would be starting a graduate program at the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University in September, he had decided to step down mid-term. “The decision came down to time management,” Norcross said. In addition to a full-time day job, he will be a full-time student in the two year program. “I have an opportunity that most likely will not be before me again and I hope to make the most of it.” Norcross previously served one one-year term as president and two terms as vice president. Norcross has been a member of the CFD for five years. He said he will continue to be a member of the department but would probably take a leave of absence until his studies are complete. The department will hold a special election this month to fill the spot, Norcross said. He didn’t know who planned to run but said he would be strive to make the transition as seamless as possible.
