With superb all-around skills, Cazenovia girls track and field star Paige Biviano proved herself to be ahead of everyone else during the pentathlon at Thursday’s state qualifying meet at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. On the same Bragman Stadium oval where she will compete in the state meet next Friday and Saturday, Biviano used steady production in the 100-meter high hurdles, high jump, long jump and 800-meter run to compensate for some struggles in the shot put. As a result, Biviano finished with 2,828 points, 12 points better than the Division I (large school) champion, CNS’s Jasmine Thompson. She also beat the Division II runner-up, Tully’s Mallory Brunet, by exactly 300 points. Elsewhere, the Lakers saw Hollie Marcelle finish third among Division II runners (fourth overall) in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:21.91. Marcelle, Meaghan Liddell, Ellen Burr and Rachel Schmidtka took fifth in the Division II 4×400 relay in 4:25.14.
