Baldwinsville’s boys tennis tandem of Tom Hamm and Dan Kot will get the thrill of their young careers when they go to Queens and the USTA National Tennis Center for this weekend’s state championship tournament. Hamm, a sophomore, and Kot, just an eighth-grader, got there by finishing second during the state qualifier at Syracuse University’s SkyTop Courts, which concluded on Friday afternoon. Once Hamm and Kot reached the finals, their state berth was secure, so it didn’t matter that CBA’s tandem of Josh Mulligan and Colin Nardella beat them 6-0, 6-3. Hamm and Kot join Mulligan and Nardella, plus the doubles pair of Vikram and Vivek Nayar (Fayetteville-Manlius), along with singles players Chris LaPort (Corcoran), Matt Izant (F-M) and Jacob Crawford (Clinton) at the state tournament.
